Compare: MyCase

A MyCase alternative for small law firms

MyCase publishes every price, which makes the comparison easy to do honestly. Here is what each MyCase plan includes and what Coil offers today, gaps and all.

People who look for a MyCase alternative have often done the sums already, because MyCase lists its prices in full. The question is usually which plan their firm actually needs. Many of the tools a small practice leans on, such as intake forms and e-signature, start on Pro, and split billing waits for Advanced. This page lays out what MyCase’s own pricing page says, then puts Coil next to it, including what Coil has not finished.

MyCase at a glance

Everything here is from MyCase’s pricing page, as listed on October 28, 2026. Prices are per user per month in US dollars.

MyCase Basic $50 $60

Where MyCase may suit you better

If you bill clients and take card payments through your practice software today, MyCase does both on every plan, and Coil’s invoicing and payments are not out of testing. MyCase also has an iOS app from Pro, two-way texting built in, court rules through a subscription, and accounting as an add-on if you want your books inside the same product. Its AI assistants, including discovery OCR on Advanced, are part of the plan rather than a key you bring.

Where Coil may suit you better

The tools that sit on MyCase Pro, intake, the CRM, e-signature and the full client portal, are in Coil now with no tier to reach. For a firm of three that would otherwise choose Pro, MyCase lists $300 a month billed annually, or $360 billed monthly. Coil is free during the beta, and beta firms keep founding pricing afterwards.

Coil’s trust ledger refuses any disbursement that would take a client below zero on every route, including the API, and no AI connection can reach trust. Coil’s personal injury module (providers, liens, demand packages, a settlement worksheet that posts to trust) and its criminal defense module are included rather than sold separately. And an AI assistant connected by MCP can be held to the scopes you set, with a mode that hides client names.

Switching from MyCase

Coil’s importer was built for MyCase and Clio exports. It takes contacts, matters, time and expenses, bills with balances, the trust ledger in date order, tasks, calendar entries and documents by matter folder from a ZIP. You preview and map each file, rows that would overdraw trust are refused and listed, and a second run updates records instead of making duplicates.

Since Coil’s invoicing is still in testing, bring your matters and trust records across during the free beta and keep billing in MyCase until invoicing is available. Your Coil data can leave at any time in the full firm export, which opens without Coil.

Try Coil with your own files while the beta is free, and keep the part that works for you.
